May I make a charitable contribution to a specific program?
A.
Yes, if you make the designation at the time of your contribution. Otherwise, your contribution goes to where it is needed the most.

Are contributions tax-deductible?
A.
Yes.  The US Internal Revenue Service and the PA Department of State have designated the NHS Foundation as a public non-profit foundation. The official registration and financial information of the NHS Foundation may be obtained from the Pennsylvania Department of State by calling toll free, within Pennsylvania, 1-800-732-0999.

May I contribute stocks, bonds or real estate in lieu of a cash contribution?
A.
Yes.  Such gifts are an important resource to the NHS Foundation.

What about planned giving?
A.
Planned giving has several forms - charitable contributions may be made at the time of the donor's death by a designation in the will.  There are also tax and donor income benefits by making a charitable gift before death and receiving a monthly annuity until the donor's death.
 
Q.
Is there an opportunity to make contributions to honor a friend or to memorialize a loved one?
A.
Yes.  The NHS Foundation maintains a record of such contributions, and the honoree or families of a deceased individual are notified of such gifts.

In lieu of a cash donation, may I contribute equipment or other property for a tax deduction?
A.
Yes.  NHS has received pieces of equipment such as wheelchairs, and will accept other items of personal property such as furniture, office equipment, vehicles, etc.
