Timyka Artist - New Board Member for the NHS Foundation

Timyka arrived at WPXI in November of 2006 as a General Assignment Reporter. Experienced with the media since an early age, Timyka has worked in a variety of locations.

After working as an intern for KYW News in her hometown of Philadelphia, she went on to be the Executive Producer of “Radio Times”, an award winning call-in talk show on WHYY-FM in Philly.

She spent a summer as an Associate Producer for Talk to the Nation in Washington D.C. as well as producing, reporting, and hosting for Tri-State Media News in New Castle, Delaware, Berks County News in Reading, Pennsylvania, WUPW-TV in Toledo, Ohio, and WTAE-TV in Pittsburgh.

Born and raised in Philadelphia, Timyka graduated from Grover Grove Christian Academy; from there she pursued a degree at Temple University, graduating from the Television and Film program.

When she is not on the street reporting news, she is involved with a number of charities and associations including the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, the American Cancer Society, Sojourner House, the Organization of Chinese Americans, Amachi, St Mary of the Mount, Italian Sons and Daughters, the YWCA and National Association of Black Journalists.

She has been honored as a Women of Excellence by the Pittsburgh Courier, for her community service by Addison Behavioral Health; and was also chosen as one of Pittsburgh’s Fifty Finest by the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

Some of her most challenging and memorable work in news includes UPMC Western Psych Shootings, LA Fitness Massacre, the 2009 Stanley Cup Championships, and the 2008 Presidential Elections.
