Traumatic Brain Injury
NHS provides a full range of supports and services to adult individuals who have experienced a Traumatic Brain Injury. These are available in-home, within their own community or in NHS residential programs. Services include:
- Personal Care including assistance with eating, bathing, dressing personal hygiene and daily activities
- Respite Care is provided on a short term basis and provides relief for unpaid caregivers generally providing care at home
- Habilitation services are designed to assist individuals in acquiring, retaining and improving the self-help, socialization and active skills necessary to reside successfully in home and in community settings and includes prevocational and supported employment services
- Transportation services are offered to enable consumers to access services and activities
- Chore services are provided to maintain the home as a clean, sanitary and safe environment
- Community Transition services provide financial assistance to assist an individual to move from an institutional setting to a community setting such as their own home or family living
- Night Supervision services provides limited awake, overnight supervision to an individual
- Behavior Specialist Consultant Services are provided by an expert who advises the members of the treatment team and assists with the development and implementation of an individualized behavior management plan for each individual
- Counseling services are available to an individual and/or family members under the supervision of a licensed psychologist to help the consumer recognize and manage stress and to facilitate interpersonal relationships between the consumer, family and significant others
- Community Integration services are designed to assist individuals in acquiring, retaining and improving self-help, socialization and adaptive skills necessary to live in the community.
